Everything you think you know about a cappella is about to change.
March 7 marks the night of the Harmonics' annual St. Patrick's Day show, ShamROCK. This year, we're elevating collegiate a cappella to a whole new level, performing on a full digital sound system with a dozen individual microphones, booming amps, and a ton of crazy effects. With lights, lasers, and fog, ShamROCK 2009 will be a fully produced vocal rock show like you've never seen before.
CARA Nominations
The Harmonics are honored to have received 4 nominations for the 2009 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs)! In addition to Best Album (for Escape Velocity), we received a nomination for Best Song (for "The Sound of Silence") and two for Best Arrangement (for both "The Sound of Silence" and "Imagination," arranged by Charlie Forkish). We are so thrilled that the a cappella community has enjoyed this album, and hope you do, too! If you don't have a copy, click on "albums" above to buy one today!
Escape Velocity on iTunes!
Our newest album is now available on iTunes. You can download Escape Velocity instantly for only $9.99, or purchase individual songs for only $.99. Though you won't get the awesome physical CD, this way you can tell your friends "hey, go to iTunes and download this awesome music!"
What can BROWN do for you?
Come out to Toyon this Saturday at 7pm as the Stanford Harmonics welcome two incredible a cappella groups from Brown University: The Brown Derbies and the Brown Higher Keys! The show will last approximately an hour, and admission is FREE. Come welcome them to the west coast and enjoy an hour of top-notch a cappella!
ESCAPE VELOCITY LAUNCH!
Come join the Harmonics this Thursday at 7pm to celebrate the release of our new album "Escape Velocity"! We will have food and drink and a short performance of select songs from the album. But most importantly, you will be able to purchase our CD!
Hailed by a cappella authority Deke Sharon as "the most ambitious album of the year" and with tracks already selected to appear on five "best of" a cappella compilation albums, Escape Velocity pushes the limits of what can be done with the human voice. To hear for yourself, head to the "Albums" page to listen to samples of the tracks. And if you can't make it to the release party, go ahead and order yourself a copy while you're there!
The event is free and will be held at Koret Pavillion on the Stanford campus (it's a construction site on the map, as the building is new). We hope to see you there!

Countdown to Launch...
UPDATE: The Sound of Silence, the closing track of Escape Velocity, has just been chosen to appear on both SING V and BOCA 2009, two of the most prestigious a cappella compilation albums in the industry. A huge thank you to both of the selection committees!
The Harmonics are thrilled to announce the release date for their long-awaited eighth studio album, "Escape Velocity." The album will be officially released on December 4th, 2008, and the Harmonics will be hosting a release concert and reception that night to celebrate. More details on the event will be posted shortly, but pre-orders for "Escape Velocity" have already begun. Reserve your copy here.
Best of the West
On November 16th at 8:00 PM, the Harmonics will be returning to UC Berkeley's Wheeler Auditorium to perform at the 2008 West Coast A Cappella Showcase. Hosted by two fantastic groups at Cal, the UC Men's Octet and the California Golden Overtones, the West Coast A Cappella Showcase will feature some of the best collegiate a cappella groups from schools across the west coast, and the Harmonics are honored to be a part of the event.

Big Game is just around the corner, and the Harmonics are gearing up for the annual Big Sing concert, which showcases the incredible a cappella at both Stanford and Cal. Taking place at UC Berkeley this year, the concert will be at 8 PM on November 18. As always, it will feature great performances and raucous school spirit, and is a not-to-be-missed event!
